A daylong colourful festival and musical show will be held at Rabindra Sarabor, one of the capital's popular cultural hubs, on September 27th to celebrate the World Tourism Day with the theme of "Sustainable Tourism - a Tool for Development".
Aviation and Tourism Journalists' Forum of Bangladesh (ATJFB), a platform of journalists covering aviation and tourism affairs, with administrative support of Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) will organize the festival styled "Tourism Fest 2017".
Different organizations will display various tourism related products and activities at the venue from the morning while a discussion over this year's theme of sustainable tourism to be held at 3.30 pm.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu and Home Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal will be present as Guests of Honor at the discussion.
"We would like to involve more common people in tourism for making this industry a sustainable one. With this motto, we will celebrate this year's World Tourism Day in a festive mode to encourage all specially youths to practice responsible tourism," event convener Rita Nahar said.
In the afternoon, she said, a buzzing live musical show would be staged where popular folk band Joler Gaan along with traditional baul singers to perform. Besides, tribal and traditional dance performances are also included in the festival itinerary, she added
The festival is sponsored by "Minister Fridge" as titled and powered by national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines. NOVOAIR, Galaxy Flying Club, Rangdhanu group and the Way Dhaka joined as co-sponsor while Well Food and DBC became food partner and media partner respectively.
Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) and Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) also joined hands as strategic partners of the festival.
