Justice Nozrul quits as Quasem’s lawyer

Justice Nozrul Islam Chowdhury, a retired judge of the High Court, on Monday withdrew himself as a defence lawyer for war criminal Mir Quasem Ali.He claimed that practicing law by him is not against the constitution and ethics. He told reporters his withdrawal was because of the attorney general questioning his appearance.Justice Nozrul said, ‘I am being compelled to withdraw myself from representing war crimes convict Mir Quasem Ali due to severe hostile environment.’It is mentionable that, the attorney general told a court that retired HC judge Nazrul Islam was still living in a government residence and using a car and gunman given by the government.
