UNSC calls emergency meeting over Rohingya issue

The UN Security Council has called an emergency closed-door meeting tomorrow to discuss the deteriorating situation of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.An emergency meeting is being held at the request of Sweden and Britain after an international outcry against the Myanmar government’s bloody crackdown against the country’s Muslim community.Hundreds of Thousands of Rohingya Muslims have been forced to flee the country in the past fortnight and left the one thousand dead in the military’s operations.Bangladesh government has announced to start registering all new arrivals of Rohingya Muslims and place them in a new refugee camp until their status is determined.Amnesty International said that many refugees are seriously injured arriving from Rakhine after the Myanmar military has planted landmines to harm them.Speaking to lawmakers, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina slammed Myanmar’s atrocities against its Muslim minorities and said we have no words to condemn Myanmar.Source: Radio Pakistan
