A court in Sunamganj has sentenced former officer-in-charge of Tahirpur Police Station Sharifur Islam to ten years in a case filed for murder of Chhatra League leader Wahiduzzaman Shiplu in 2002.
Sunamganj Additional District and Sessions Judge Pronoy Kumar Das passed the order around 12pm on Thursday.
The court also acquitted six accused in the case.
According to the case statement, Wahiduzzaman Shiplu, who was a student of Joynal Abedin College and president of the college chhatra league, was killed on March 20, 2002.
Later his mother Amirunnesa filled a case against five people including the OC.
