Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif today said BNP wants to catch fish in troubled water over the court verdict on the 16th constitutional amendment.
"BNP leaders are dreaming of constituting caretaker government in future. But their dream will never come true," he told a discussion marking the National Mourning Day in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban at the Dhanmondi road number 32, reports BSS.
Chaired by lawmaker Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, the discussion was addressed by AL Presidium Member Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak, Dhaka City South unit of Awami League President Abul Hasnat and General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad, among others.
About the remark of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Hanif said if BNP welcomed the court verdict by reading it thoroughly, they would accepted that the party's founder Ziaur Rahman illegally captured the state power.
Mentioning Mirza Fakhrul, the AL leader said: "It is BNP . . . it is Awami League. This Awami League ousted many military dictators from power defying all sorts of threats."
