A Rohingya man died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Saturday from a gunshot wound sustained during the Myanmar army crackdown in the Rakhine state.
Two wounded Rohingya men crossed into Bangladesh late Friday and got themselves admitted to the CMCH around 8am on Saturday, said Assistant Sub Inspector Alauddin Talukder.
The deceased, identified as 22-year-old Musa by his companion, was from Mongdu. The other man identified as 27-year-old Md Mokhtar Hossain is undergoing treatment.
Mokhtar said. “I, along with two others, were injured in the gunfire. Later, we crossed into Bangladesh with the help of agents from the two sides.”
On Friday, at least 89 people, including a dozen security forces, were killed as Rohingya militants besieged border posts in northern Rakhine State, Myanmar’s authorities said, triggering a fresh exodus of refugees towards Bangladesh.
