A Barguna court today sentenced seven people to life imprisonment for killing a farmer in Betagi upazila in the district in 2005.
Additional District and Session Judge M Abu Taher pronounced the verdict in presence of the convicts.
The convicts, who got life imprisonment, are identified as Monir 45, Abdul Jalil 50, Rahim 48, Sattar 52, Ruhul 45, Mojibor 46, and Jalil Mir (50), are the residents of Charkhali village of the upazila.
The prosecution story, in brief was that the convicts chopped to death their neighbor farmer Kabir Hawladar (55) in a dispute over land properties at the village on December 2 in 2005. Kabir Hawladar's wife Sadura Begum filed a murder case with Betagi Police Station following the murder.
Public Prosecutor Advocate Bhuban Chandra Hawladar said, the learned judge after examining the witnesses and evidences found them guilty and announced the verdict.
