Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the students' wing of ruling Awami League, has chalked out a month-long elaborate programmes marking the National Mourning Day and 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The students' organization also took comprehensive programmes marking the 13th anniversary of horrible grenade attack on the then opposition leader and incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on August 21, 2004, said a BCL press release here today.
The month-long programmes include igniting candles and taking oath at the portrait of Bangabandhu on early hours of August 1, keeping party flags at half-mast and hoisting black flags in front of all unit offices across the country and central office of the organization, paying homage to the elder son of Bangabandhu- Sheikh Kamal on August 5, forming human chain and submitting memorandum on August 6 to Foreign Ministry thorough all university Vice-Chancellors, Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) demanding bringing back the fugitives killers of Bangabandhu.
The programmes also include paying homage to Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib on August 8 marking her birth anniversary, blood donation programme on August 14 in the memory of all martyrs of 1975 carnage and keeping party flags at half-mast and hoisting black flags in front of all party offices across the country, wearing black badges, paying glowing tribute to Bangabandhu and distributing foods among downtrodden people on August 15.
BCL Central President Saifur Rahman Sohag and Secretary SM Jakir Hossain urged all leaders and workers of the organization to arrange the centrally announced programmes at all units across the country.
