Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed today said Bangladesh has made a remarkable economic progress as it has not only attained sufficiency in good production, export earnings are expected to reach US$33.5 billion in the current fiscal. ‘Bangladesh earned US$348 million by exporting only 25 products in 68 countries immediately after the independence. We expects the export earnings would stand at US$33.5 billion in the fiscal year 2015-16,’ Tofail said while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the month-long agriculture and trade fair at Shaheed Smamsuddin Stadium here. Sirajganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized the fair. President of the chamber Golam Abu Yusuf presided over the ceremony. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim attended the ceremony as special guest while Prof Dr Habibe Millat, MP, Selina Begum Swapna, MP, FBCCI President Abdul Matlub Ahmad, Mayor Abdur Rouf Mukta and district Awami League general secretary Abu Mohammad Golam Kibria, among others, spoke on the occasion.Mohammad Nasim said the country is going ahead because of the relentless efforts of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Country’s law and order and economy are now in a good shape and if this situation continues, Bangladesh will become a developed country soon.
