Miraz leaves Dhaka to play in CPL

Bangladeshi fans are ready to keep their eyes on the fifth edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), beginning from August 4 as their two superstar players- Shakib Al Hasan and Mehedi Hasan Miraz- will play in the upcoming tournament.

Miraz, an uprising youngster of Bangladesh cricket, will leave Dhaka this evening for the Caribbean to participate in his first ever franchise based tournament outside the country while ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is expected to leave Dhaka for his destination tomorrow.

Before leaving here, he shared his thoughts to the reporters regarding his Caribbean stint.

He took some tips from his senior teammate Shakib Al Hasan, who featured in the tournament before, about the condition and the way how can he perform well in the tournament.

The 19-year-old all-rounder said: “The senior players of Bangladesh team have always inspired me. While talking to Shakib bhai, he told me that to perform well in the tournament like this, I have to bowl in the right channel. The wickets of the Caribbean region are mostly spin friendly and I have to be aggressive in gesture while bowling to a batsman,” adding that if I can maintain this, then I will make something different in there.

The youngster will feature for Trinbago Knight Rides, based in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, owned by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan who is also the owner of IPL’s franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.

In reply to a query, he said: “I will feature for Shah Rukh Khan’s Trinbago Knight Rides there in Caribbean. He has also a team in IPL. If I can play well in CPL, then it may create a scope to play in IPL. But now I am looking forward to playing well in my forthcoming Twenty20 stint.”

Bangladesh are expected to take on Australia in two matches test series in August. When queried is it a problem for a cricketer to adapt in Test cricket after playing Twenty20 cricket, the all-rounder replied “As a player, we have that power how to adjust quickly in one edition from another. From my point of view, after returning from Windies, I will get some days to prepare myself for the Test series.”

Moreover, Mizar has got the chance to CPL as a bowler so that he has no concern about batting when asking regarding this he said: “They selected me as a bowler. In twenty20 cricket, there is a little bit scope to bat. But if I get a chance to batting, then I will try to my level best to perform well in there but my aim is to bowl well in the tournament.”

“I am unable to express my feelings right now but one thing I can tell you that it’s a great honour for me as I can represent my country in abroad. If I and Shakib bhai can perform well in the tournament, then everybody will praise us. It always feels good for a cricketer,” he concluded.
