Muhith for using technology to curb corruption

Finance Minister AMA Muhith today said the proper use of modern technology can help curb all sorts of corrupt practices at all levels.“We are now closely connected with different technologies . . . So corruption can be rooted out by using the modern technology,” he said while inaugurating the “Hotline 106” of Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) at its Segunbagicha headquarters here.Noting that corrupt practices have spread at all strata of life, the finance minister said, “The corruption will be hopefully reduced within next few years as the present government has taken pragmatic steps to ensure transparency and accountability.”He urged the ACC officials to conduct the investigation into the cases appropriately keeping in mind so that no innocent person is harassed by any means.ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmud presided over the function while ACC commissioners- Dr Naisruddin Ahmed and AFM Aminul Islam also spoke.Iqbal Mahmud hoped that the 'Hotline-106' would help reduce the corruption in the society.The ACC, state-run anti-graft body, today opened “Hotline-106” for receiving related complaints during the stipulated timeframe (from 9 am to 5 pm) every day.“Identity of the complainants will be kept secret and there will be no call charge in this connection,” the ACC chairman added.In the meantime, the anti-corruption commission imparted training to 50 officials about the use of technology and manners to deal with the issue.Source: BSS
