Home Minister asks DCs to work together at field level

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today called upon all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to work together at the field level across the country to keep law and order under control.

“Country’s law and order is now at a satisfactory level and the DCs have been asked to work in close coordination with each other for its further improvement,” he told newsmen after addressing the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) on concluding day of their three-day conference at the cabinet division.

Replying to a question, the minister said the DCs would get police for conducting mobile courts immediately after their call, adding, “Not only police, but also the Ansar team will be there.”

He said the DCs gave 14 proposals and discussed various issues including increase in the number of police camp, naval police, tourist police, industrial police along with setting up fire service stations across the country.

They (DCs) during their deliberations also gave importance on improving capacity of the members of law enforcement agencies, Asaduzzaman khan said, adding, “We discussed the DC’s proposals on modernization of prisons, establishment of Drug Rehabilitation Centre, probable rehabilitation of drug traders, who surrender to the law enforcement agencies.”

Describing the current state of law and order as very good, the Home Minister said the country’s security forces and intelligence agencies are working well. “We’ve asked the DCs to work together. Whenever they need a meeting with our security forces, they can arrange it forthwith,” he added.

During the conference, Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque, secretary of security services division Farid Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, secretary of public security division Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed and the concerned departmental heads were present.
