Law ministry for withdrawing Barisal CMM over UNO harassment

Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has sent a proposal to Supreme Court to withdraw Barisal Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Md Ali Hossain amid the row over harassment of Barguna Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Gazi Tarique Salman.Law ministry spokesman Dr Rezaul Karim confirmed this, saying a latter has been sent to the apex court in this regard yesterday (July 24), reports BSS.High Court Division Additional Registrar (administration and judicial) Md. Sabbir Faiz too confirmed newsmen of receiving the letter today and said the ministry has urged to withdraw Hossain from his current office and transfer elsewhere.“Supreme Court general administration committee will take decision in this regard and inform it to the ministry,” Faiz added.Hossain came on the headlines as he allegedly turned down the plea of bail of Barguna UNO Salman at first, only to granting it two hours later in a defamation case.But the judge later in a letter to the Supreme Court Registrar General said he never denied the public servant's bail, instead he adjourned the hearing of the case to ensure the safety of the UNO and ordered officials concerned to let Salman sit in the courtroom while his lawyer submit the necessary documents.
