The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) authority to reinstate the spectrum of Citycell, the country's oldest mobile phone operator, within 24 hours.
A three-member of Appellate Division bench headed by the Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha on Tuesday passed the order, a day after BTRC suspended the spectrum.
In August last year, the government started the shutdown processes for the operator for not paying the outstanding dues of Taka 477.51 crore since long.
Earlier, on July 31, 2016, the regulator- BTRC- served notice to Citycell to explain why it should not face legal action for not paying the outstanding dues of Taka 477.51 crore since long.
