BNP out to make EC controversial: Qamrul

Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam today said BNP is hatching conspiracy to make the Election Commission (EC) controversial.

"BNP fears in fair election. That is why; the BNP leaders are hatching conspiracy to make the Election Commission controversial," he told a discussion marking 91st birth anniversary of the country's first prime minister Tajuddin Ahmad at the Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) here.

Jatiya Gonotantrik League and NAP (Bhashani) jointly organized the discussion.

Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote General Secretary Arun Sarker Rana, Jatiya Gonotantrik League President MA Jalil, among others, addressed the function.

Addressing on the occasion, Hasan Mahmud said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia went to London not for treatment purpose rather she went to hatch conspiracy.

About the next general election, he said the election will be held as per the Constitution and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will remain as chief of the election time government.

He urged the young politicians to follow the life and work of Tajuddin Ahmad who played a vital role in achieving the independence of Bangladesh.
