The Bangladesh Chhatra League activists of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) unit (suspended committee) vandalised the office room of a teacher of the university over his facebook post.The accused teacher Manjurul Haider Suman, an assistant professor of Anthropology Department, wrote on his facebook post, “Counting days…. My joyous August is coming.”The Chhatra League activists criticized him over the post. They vandalised the nameplate of the teacher and window’s glass of room number 1009 on ground floor of Academic Building ‘D’ on Monday while the teacher wasn’t present there.He deleted the facebook post after one of his colleagues had informed him that it drew huge criticism.Manjurul Haider Suman said, “I posted a status on my facebook wall on last Saturday afternoon without intention of hurting anyone.”“It was about my personal feeling as one of my articles is scheduled to be published on a journal in August, which also coincides with my wife’s birthday,” he added.Abu Saeed, a central leader of Chhatra League and vice-president of SUST unit (suspended committee) said, “Bangladesh Chharta League will not accept any audacity with the Father of the Nation.”“We have informed the matter to administration and if they don’t take any action, we will give him punishment,” he added.
