The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today allowed the sate more time for finalizing service rules and conduct for lower court judges’ and publish gazette in this regard.“Not this week,” said Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha while presiding over the six-member full bench of the apex court.The Appellate Division passed the order as Attorney General Mahbubey Alam pleaded for two weeks time for the matter.Earlier on July 2, the apex court had granted the state two weeks time for this.Law Minister Anisul Huq on that same day had expressed hope to finalize the gazette by July 15.“Conduct rules for the lower court judges’ would leave an impact on the discipline of the judiciary. So we are now scrutinising all the relevant issues regarding the rules so that it cannot be questioned once the gazette notification is published. I am hoping the gazette would by published by July 15,” he said on that day.Huq meanwhile, called on Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha yesterday at latter’s office and apprised him about the development in this regard.After coming out of the meeting, the law minister told the newsmen that the gazette on service rules and conduct for lower court judges’ will be finalized by Thursday (July 20) and he hoped that the apex court will not hear the matter today.Source: BSS
