140 peacekeepers leave for Darfur UN mission

One hundred forty police personnel of Bangladesh Police left Dhaka for joining the UN peacekeeping mission in Darfur, Sudan in a chartered aircraft of the United Nations (UN) in the early hours of Sunday.Superintendent of Police M Saifullah Bin Anwar is leading the Bangladesh Formed Police Unit-2 (BANFPU-2) team as commander to establish peace in volatile Darfur.Different police officials of Bangladesh Police were present at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to see off the peacekeeping team, said a release.Over 1,000 police personnel are now working in various UN peacekeeping missions to establish peace in different volatile areas across the globe.
