Stern action will be taken if BNP creates anarchy: Hasan

Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today sounded a note of warning against the BNP, saying stern action would be taken against those who would resort to anarchy to create chaotic situation in the country.

"Begum Khaleda Zia used to go abroad to bring prescription for creating unrest across the country... Again she is going to London. But this time stern action would be taken against the troublemakers if they try to create chaotic situation in the country in the name of movement," he said.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion titled, 'No compromise with anti-liberation forces' at Dhaka Reporters' Unity organised by Gonotantric League in the city.

"People of the country rejected her when she attacked the people with petrol bombs ... If she tries to do the same this time people would bid her farewell forever," he said.

Former vice president of Supreme Court Lawyers Association Advocate M Kazi Sajowar Hossain presided over the function while Barisal District AL General Secretary Talukder M Yunus and Jatiya Party Joint General Secretary Sadek Siddiqui spoke.

Hasan, also the Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Forest and Environment Affairs, said that the next election would be held under the Election Commission (EC) and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will lead the government during election-time.

He charged the BNP with patronizing militancy against the will of the people.
