Met office forecasts heavy rainfall in parts of country

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places in Chittagong, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions in 24 hours as of 10am tomorrow due to fairly active monsoon over the country.

“Due to heavy to very heavy rainfall, landslide may occur at places in the hilly regions of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions,” Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) release said here today.

It said, “Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary southerly or south easterly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kilometers per hour (kph) is likely to occur in the regions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Jessore, Kushtia, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and Cox's Bazar wherein riverports shall hoist cautionary signal number one.”

Besides, day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country. Rainfall activity is likely to continue for next 24 hours.

Country's highest temperature on Monday was recorded 34 degree Celsius at Chuadanga and Ishwardi and minimum temperature 24.3 degree Celsius at Rajarhat. The highest rainfall was recorded 145 millimeter at Hatiya.

The sun sets at 6.49pm today and rises at 5.15am tomorrow in the capital city of Dhaka.
