SC orders to remove staircases from Hanif flyover

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday dismissed a petition against a High Court order asking to remove staircases leading people to climb on capital’s Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover on different points, reports BSS.

"Dismissed," said a three-member apex court bench headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha.

The Appellate Division came up with the order as Orion Infrastructure Limited, company that constructed the flyover, filed a leave to appeal petition against the May 31 order of the High Court that had asked to remove the stairs within two weeks.

Earlier on February 19, a Supreme Court lawyer filed a writ petition with the High Court, pleading for its direction to remove the stairs and bus stops from the middle of the flyover, saying these are becoming major cause of accidents on the installation.
