The textile mill at Sripur in Gazipur has collapsed after 20 hour of breaking out of a devastating fire on Sunday afternoon. The fire is now under control after 20-hour of frantic efforts, said Shahin ALam, the station officer of Gazipur fire service. Extreme heat, generated by the prolonged fire, melted the steel-frame of the building, triggering its collapse around 4:00am. No casualties were reported as all 3,000 workers of Dignity Textiles Limited at Betjuri were out at lunch hours when the fire broke out, said the factory management. Gazipur fire service sources and the factory workers said the fire had originated from its warehouse on the third floor and soon engulfed the entire building. Meanwhile, Gazipur district administration on Sunday formed a five-member committee to look into the fire incident. The committee, led by Sripur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Sadiqur Rahman, was asked to submit its report within five working days, said additional deputy commissioner Mohammad Hossain.SRJ
