Bail forgery: HC orders accused to surrender within week

The High Court (HC) on Thursday ordered an accused, who secured bail by submitting forged documents in an arms case, to surrender before a lower court within seven days.A High Court division bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim canceled the bail that accused and asked Registrar General of the Supreme Court to file a case to identify people who were involved in that incident.Police on November 13, 2016, filed the case against four, including Humayun Kabir Junu and Shahar Ali alias Liton, over buying and selling of arms and ammunition in Mugda area of the capital.Junu and Liton were arrested in connection with the case. Junu on February 27 secured bail by submitting fake documents before the High Court.Meanwhile, Liton’s counsel too subsequently pleaded for bail for her client, referring the bail order for Junu.The High Court then reviewed both the bail pleas and concerned documents and found that Junu had submitted fake papers.The court then passed the order and dismissed Liton’s plea too.Source: BSS
