Govt appoints new envoys to Sweden, Oman

The government has appointed Md. Nazmul Islam and Md. Golam Sarwar as the next ambassadors of Bangladesh to Sweden and Oman respectively, said a Foreign Ministry press release on Wednesday.

Md. Nazmul Islam, a career diplomat belongs to 15th BCS (Foreign Affairs), joined Foreign Service in 1995. Now he has been serving as Director General (Administration, GS & ICT) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his distinguished diplomatic career, he served as the Consul General in Jeddah and Counselor in Beijing. He also served in Bangladesh Missions in Jakarta and London in different capacities, the release added.

Nazmul Islam obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET). He also completed several professional training courses at home and abroad, and represented Bangladesh in numerous bilateral and multilateral meetings.

Md. Golam Sarwar, a career diplomat belongs to 10th BCS (Foreign Affairs), joined Foreign Service in 1991. Currently he is serving as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bangladesh to Sweden.

In his distinguished diplomatic career, he served as the Consul General in Jeddah and Minister in Washington DC. He also served in Bangladesh Missions in Kathmandu, Kuala Lumpur, and Yangon in different capacities, the release added.

Golam Sarwar obtained his Masters of Commerce degree in accounting from University of Dhaka. He also did an Advanced Course on Diplomacy in Germany and Overseas Executive Course from Near-East South Asia Centre for Strategic Studies (NESA) in Washington DC.

He has also completed several professional training courses at home and abroad, and represented Bangladesh in numerous bilateral and multilateral meetings.
