Prices of rice are expected to go down as the government decided to lower the import duty on rice to 10 percent from 28 percent.“The government cut 18 percent import duty on rice to increase supply in the market,” Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed told the reporters while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop held at his ministry on Tuesday.“Price of rice per kilogram will go down by Tk. 6 as the rice importers will pay 10 percent import duty on rice from now instead of previous 28 percent,” said the minister.
