If Bangladesh match is washed out, who will go into finals?

Bangladesh reached the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy through complex equation as it stunned New Zealand and England beat Australia in the group stage. The Tigers are scheduled to play their first ever semi-finals of an ICC tournament when they will take on defending Champion India at Edgbaston on Thursday. However, if we recall the past 12 continuous days of action packed group stage games, we will come to know that it has been hit by the rain on numerous occasions besides including multiple washouts. The question that pops up in our minds at this point of time is that what if the semi-finals get washed out.It is worth mentioning here that the rules for the semi-final stage will be same as the previous editions of the tournamnet with the match going into the Super Over if it ends in a tie. However, no Super Over has ever been bowled in ODI cricket till date and will be the first time if any of semifinals end in a tie. While considering the facts of how the weather interrupted in the Champions Trophy and unpredictablity of the England climate, the chances of the semi-finals ending in a washout cannot be forgone. Moreover, something which really is worrisome for the diehards is that both the semis do not have a reserve day to continue and the possible rain could really spoil up the things in the semi-finals. In that case, the team that finished at the top of their group will automatically move forward. In the first semi-final, England will be going to final in case of a washout as they finsihed at the top of Group A and Pakistan ended Group B as the no.2 team.As far as the second semi-final is concerned, India will go in the case of a washout. It is also pertinent here to mention that the case also applies to the tied semi-finals where the Super Over can’t be contested owing to the weather conditions. The weather forecast of Cardiff which is the venue for Pak-Eng semi-final doesn’t seem to affect the game but the Birmingham forecast, can affect the second semi-final like the way it did in all the 4 games it has hosted during the tournament.
