Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmood today said the government prepared the framework of the interim Teesta Water Sharing Agreement under the guideline of Bangladesh Prime Minister and Indian Prime Minister.
"The framework of the interim Teesta Water Sharing Agreement is now at final stage under the two Prime Minister`s guideline," he said this, while replying to a treasury bench member M Abul Kalam of Natore in the Jatiya Sangsad.
Besides, the government has also finalized the interim framework of the Feni river water sharing agreement, the minister informed the House.
He said the Teesta water sharing agreement would be signed following the policy of the equity, neutrality and mutual interest.
Initiative is underway by talking with India along with water sharing of Monu, Muhuri, Khoai, Gumti, Dharla and Dudh Kumar rivers, Mahmood said.
He said the Awami League government signed historic Ganges water sharing agreement with India in 1996 for 30 years duration.
