CDC begins awareness campaign about Chikungunya

Communicable Disease Control (CDC) unit of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has started awareness raising campaign about the Chikungunya to protect people from the disease.

The campaign began today from ward number 9 and 10 in Mirpur-1.

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will conduct the campaign in nine wards in the corporation area while Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will carry out in five zones.

Five doctors, five nurses, two local mosque imams, two local councilors and teachers` representatives will take part in the campaign.

Besides, a control room has been opened in this regard. A committee will be formed tomorrow to oversee the control room which will keep watch at different hospitals across the country.

CDC line director Prof Sania Tahmina told BSS that the campaign is being conducted to raise consciousness about the diseases.

She urged all not to be anxious about the Chikungunya fever and use mosquito-net during the time of sleep.
