Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, distinguished fellow of Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) said we are agreed with the expectation and desire of the proposed budget. But the budget lacks specific directives on how to implement it.
CPD organized a press conference at Lakeshore Hotel in the capital to inform their analysis on the proposed budget on Friday.
Debapriya said, “To achieve the proposed GDP growth to 7.4 percent, Tk 6,000 crore additional amount of investment will be needed in private sector while Tk 50,000 crore additional amount of investment needed in government sector.”
The economist said there is lack of information in the proposed budget in certain areas and the burden on honest taxpayers will increase.
CPD Executive Director and its distinguished fellow Prof Mustafizur Rahman and Research Director Khandakar Golam Muazzem were present among others in the event.
