Two killed in Jhenaidah gunfight

Two criminals were killed in a gunfight between their cohorts and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Kotchandpur Upazila in Jhenaidah at 12.30am on Wednesday.

At that time, three RAB members were also injured.

The deceased are Maidul Islam alias Rana, Regional Leader of banned outfit Purba Banglar Communist Party and his cohort Alim.

RAB members recovered two pistols, one rifle and fourteen bullets from the spot.

Munir Ahmed, Commander of RAB-6, told Jagonews24.com that, “Acting on secret information that a gang of dacoits was taking preparation to commit robbery in the area, a team of law enforcers conducted a drive there.”

Sensing presence of the team, the gang members opened fire at them, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight. After the gunfight, two injured dacoits were sent to Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared them dead, he added.
