Five people have been awarded death penalty and three others jailed for life term in a murder case in the capital.
Judge Md Ataur Rahman of the Special Judge Court-1 of Dhaka passed the order on Monday.
The convicts are Humayun Kabir, Abul Kalam, Tariqul Islam, Ishak and Kalam. The life term awardees are Hashem, Raza and Badsha.
The court fined them Tk 1 lakh each for the murder. Apart from three accused are acquitted in the case.
Mohiuddin Mishu, son of Joint Secretary of Planning Ministry Nur Uddin, was abducted and killed on May 19, 2006. Later his father Nur filed a case with Kafrul Police Station on July 13, 2006.
Mishu was the first year student of the Peoples University.
