Law enforcers foiled a march of some leftist student organizations to the Supreme Court in protest of removal of the statue of Greek goddess of Justice Themis from the SC premisess on Friday noon.
Police used water cannon and fired tear gas to disperse people.
Meanwhile, Gonojagoron Mancha and other organisations also announced to stage demonstrations at Shahbagh and SC premises protesting the removal of the statute.
Earlier The SC authorities removed the statue of the Greek Goddess of Justice Themis on the SC premises in the wee hours of Friday.
On 11 April, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said she did not like setting up the statue of Greek goddess Themis on the Supreme Court premises.
