The fifth edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is set to begin on November 4 after the inauguration ceremony, which will be held on November 2.
The announcement came from a BPL Governing Council’s press conference at Sher-e- Bangla cricket stadium conference room on Thursday noon.
Afzalur Rahman Sinha, Chairman of BPL Governing Council said a total of eight teams have already registered for the tournament. But their participation is still uncertain as the franchises don’t submit their financial statements and legal documents.
“If any franchises fail to give bank guarantee, their ownership rights will be repealed, so there will seven team take part in the event,” he said.
BPL organizer is planning to increase foreign players’ quota from 4 to 5. Four foreign players have played for every team since the beginning of the tournament.
“From now on, we are thinking to increase one more overseas player to every team,” he hinted.
Afzalur Rahman Sinha, Chairman of BPL Governing Council, Ismail Hider, Member Secretary, Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, CEO of BCB, Lokman Hossen, Director BCB, among others were present at the press conference.
