A court in Narayanganj has sentenced 23 people to death for the killing of four activists of local Awami League.
Judge Kamrun Nahar of Narayanganj District and Sessions Judge’s Court passed the order around 12 on Wednesday.
The convicts are Abul Bashar Kashu, Dalim, Yakub Ali, Rafiq, Halim, Ruhel, Shahabuddin, Liakot Ali Master, Seraj Uddin, Edris Ali, Mohammad Hosen, Abu Kalam, Ahad Ali, Younus Ali, Jahir Uddin, Faruk Hosen, Golam Azam, Abdul Hai, Khokon, Al Amin, Ruhul Amin, Tazul Islam and Harun.
Of them, Al Amin, Ruhul Amin, Tazul Islam and Harun are absconding.
According to the prosecution, Kashu and his people picked up Barek, his cousin Badal, Faruk and Kabir from their respective houses on March 12 in 2002. Later, they tortured and burnt them to death.
