Karwan Bazar-FDC flyover to be opened tomorrow

The Karwan Bazar-FDC part of the Moghbazar- Satrasta-Eskaton-Mouchak Flyover is set to be opened for public tomorrow to ease traffic congestion.

"A section of the flyover towards Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue from FDC intersection will be opened for public after its inauguration. Minister for Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Engineer Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain will inaugurate the flyover at 10 am," Project Director Sushanta Kumar Paul told BSS today.

He said the 450-meter flyover was the part of Moghbazar-Mouchak Flyover project which was designed to connect a vast area of the capital to a fast moving road infrastructure system.

Local Government and Engineering Department is implementing the project with the finance of Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) and OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID).

Erlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated first phase of the 2.1 kilometre Holy Family-Satrasta section of the Mouchak-Moghbazar-Flyover for traffic on March 30 last year.

According to the project details, the purpose of the project is to facilitate the north-south traffic movement through increased traffic carrying capacity at Satrasta, FDC, Moghbazar, Mouchak, Santinagar, Malibag, and two railway intersections in Malibagh area.

The Moghbazar-Mouchak flyover project was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) in 2011.

Later, Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the project on February 16, 2013.
