The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) Monday stayed for four months a High Court order that had granted bail to Tangail-3 lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana in Freedom Fighter Faruk Ahmed murder trial.“Stand over for four months,” said a three-member Appellate Division panel headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha. The apex court came up with the order following a state plea against the April 13 order of the High Court, in which it had allowed Rana an interim bail. The Chamber Judge Court of the Appellate Division on April 18 stayed that order till today.Rana was sent to jail by a trial court as he surrendered before it on September 18, 2016. A Tangail court on September 26 rejected his bail plea. The controversial lawmaker then filed an appeal with the High Court against that trial court order. He is now kept in Kashimpur High Security Prison.Source: BSS
