The government on Sunday upgraded the ranks of Bangladesh Navy (BN) chief to Admiral from Vice Admiral and Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) chief to Air Chief Marshal from Air Marshal.In presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Haisna, Maj Gen (rtd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, Security Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister and acting army chief Lt Gen Anwar Hussain adorned Muhammad Farid Habib with the new rank badge of Admiral of the Bangladesh Navy and Abu Esrar with the new rank badge of Air Chief Marshal of the Bangladesh Air Force.During the adorning ceremony, Prime Minister`s Political Adviser H T Imam, defence secretary Kazi Habibul Awal, Principal Staff Officer of Armed Forces Division Lt Gen M Mainul Islam and senior officials of the Prime Minister`s Office were present.After adorning the rank badge, a contingent of Bangladesh Navy offered guard of honour to the chief of Bangladesh Navy Muhammad Farid Habib at the Naval Headquarters.Besides, a contingent of Bangladesh Air Force offered guard of honour to the chief of Bangladesh Air Force Abu Esrar at its Headquarters, the release added.
