Tribunal for not terming anyone Razakar before conviction

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 today asked all not to term anyone Razakar before his conviction by the special court.“The tribunal made the comment while holding hearing on a prosecution plea to allow the investigation agency to interrogate three Naogaon war crimes accused at their safe home. In that plea, the probe body had termed the three as Razakars,” prosecutor Tapas Kanti Baul told BSS.Razakar is a notorious militia force that sided with Pakistani occupation army in 1971 and carried out monstrous crimes against humanity here in Bangladesh. Most of the people, who are facing trial at the ICT, were members of that Razakar Bahini in 1971.The three-member tribunal, in the meantime, accepted the prosecution plea, allowing the probe body to grill the three accused Rezaul Karim Montu, Ishak Ali and Shahid Mandal at its safe home on May 8 and 9.The three accused were arrested on February 10 and later shown arrested in war crimes case. There is another accused in the case, who is yet to get arrested.The ICT-1 on February 2 issued arrest warrant against him. The prosecution, however, declined to give more information about the fugitive accused.Source: BSS
