A 14-year-old boy was stabbed to death inside his school campus at Khapara area in Tongi on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Ferdous Ahmed, son of Md. Ashraful Alam in the area. He was a ninth grade student of Satail Uccha Bidyalay.
Police and local sources said Ferdous along with his friends went to their school to attend a programme around 9pm.
Meanwhile, they locked an altercation with some youths over a trifling matter. At one stage, miscreants stabbed Ferdous and fled the scene.
The boy was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition where he succumbed to injuries around 12am.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.
Firoz Talukder, officer- in- charge of Tongi Police Station said after hearing the news, police visited the spot immediately.
“We are conducting a drive to arrest the miscreants,” he added.
