Bangladeshi woman arrested in Hong Kong

A Bangladeshi woman and an Indian man were arrested after separate police raids in Tsim Sha Tsui and Yau Ma Tei on Wednesday afternoon netted 3.3 kilograms of drugs.

Hong Kong officers arrested the 45-year-old man and 26-year-old woman on suspicion of drug possession.

At 4pm, police confiscated 1.8kg of marijuana and 1.5kg of hashish with a total market value of HK$750,000 (US$96,000) in a flat in Chungking Mansions in Tsim Sha Tsui, Oriental Daily reported.

Officers arrested the Indian, who was also a refugee claimant, and confiscated packaging tools, as well as HK$11,000 and 1,600 yuan (US$230).

Police believed that the drugs were mainly for retail sale in the Tsim Sha Tsui district, Sing Pao reported.

At 6pm, officers also arrested the Bangladeshi woman in an apartment on Jordan Road in Yau Ma Tei. They found 79 grams of cocaine, 25 grams of crack cocaine and 28 grams of Ice.
