A Dhaka court today framed charges against Obaidul Khan, sole accused in sensational Suraia Akter Risha murder trial.
Dhaka eighth additional sessions judge Abul Kashem indicted Obaidul, initiating the trial over the murder of the eighth-grader. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The court set May 8 for recording depositions of the witnesses in the case.
Police on November 14, 2016, submitted charge sheet against Obaidul.
Risha, a student of capital`s Wills Little Flower School and College was knifed by Obaidul in front of the school on August 24, 2016. The eighth-grader died of her injuries in hospital four-days later.
Obaidul, a tailor by profession, used to stalk the girl and fled capital after stabbing her. He was arrested on August 31 from Nilphamari and confessed his crimes during the primary investigation.
