Niko graft proceedings to continue against Moudud

The High Court (HC) today paved way to continue proceedings of Niko graft case against Moudud Ahmed as it dismissed a stay rule issued earlier in this regard.“As a result of today’s order, there is no legal bar in continuing the proceedings of the case,” said ACC counsel Khurshid Alam Khan.A High Court division bench comprising Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice Krishna Debnath passed the order.Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case on December 9, 2007, against 11 persons including BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Moudud Ahmed, accusing them of incurring a loss of Taka 137 billion to the state exchequer by penning a deal with Canadian company Niko for exploring and extracting gas.Source: BSS
