Senior Sub-Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangsatha KM Shahidul Haque of and senior sub-editor of online portal jagonews24.com AKM Obaidur Rahman were elected president and general secretary respectively in Dhaka Sub-Editor’s Council election on Wednesday.Election Commissioner of the polls Mohsin Al Abbas announced the results in the evening at Jatiya Press Club while some 366 voters among 871 casted their votes between 1pm to 6pm at the club.Haque was elected president bagging 223 votes while his contestant Helaly Wadud Chowdhury secured managed 128 votes. Rahman became general secretary beating his rival Tanzimul Nayan by 23 votes bagging 183 votes.Other elected office bearers are: Md Shahidul Islam (vice-president, unopposed), Ali Imam Md Masud (joint secretary) Jawhar Iqbal Khan, (treasurer, unopposed) Anjuman Ara Shilpi (organizing secretary, unopposed), M Zahirul Islam (publicity and publication secretary), Khandakar Hafizur Rahman (office secretary, unopposed) Aminul Rana (Sports and Cultural Secretary, unopposed) and Labin Rahman (training and research secretary, unopposed).Elected unopposed executive members are Alam Shams, Ibrahim Khalil Jewel, Ismat Zarin, Tahmena Akhter, Dipok Bhowmik, Nirmol Kumar Barman, Bablu Rahman, Md Nurul Islam, Shamsul Alam Shetu, Shamim Mashrekee and Shiddhartho Sankar Dhar.Source: BSS
