Suhrawardi Udyan`s adjoining routes to close tomorrow: DMP

The surrounding routes of the Suhrawardi Udyan will be closed from 10:30 am tomorrow centering the grand rally marking the 42nd anniversary of Islamic Foundation. The roads to remain closed will include the Shahbagh-Matshya Bhaban Crossing and Shahbagh-TSC-Doyel Chattar, police said.Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken the traffic management steps aimed at making the vehicular movement comparatively ease and well-organised. It has also taken unprecedented security measures to hold the grand rally smoothly and peacefully.Besides, there will be diversion of 25 more city roads from 12 noon tomorrow. The routes are: Bijoy Sharani Crossing, Khamarbari Crossing, Bangla Motor Crossing, Maghbazar Crossing, Paribagh Crossing, Sakura Gali, Police Bhaban Crossing, Sabji Bagan Crossing, Mintoo Road (east), Officers Club Crossing, Kakrail Church, Shilpakala Academy Gali, ACC office Gali, Karpet Gali, Matsya Bhaban Crossing, Kadam Foara Crossing, High Court Crossing, Shahidullah Hall, Bakshibazar Crossing, Palashi Crossing, Nilkhet Crossing, Rumana Chattar, Kantabon Crossing, Shahbagh Crossing and Aziz Super Market. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the grand rally at Suhrawardy Udyan at 3:00 pm tomorrow. Around two lakh people are expected to arrive in the capital to join the rally. Khatibs of Masjid al-Haram and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, the great mosques from Makkah and Madina respective will attend the rally."We requested the city dwellers not to go to the Suhrawardi Udyan or its adjoining areas without any special necessity," DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah told a press briefing held at DMP Media Centre at Mintoo Road here this noon. He also called upon the city dwellers not to bring out their private cars as there will be 2,500 additional vehicles to carry the participants of the rally. The HSC examinees have been requested to come out of their houses for the examination halls having appropriate times in hand considering the traffic management system.
