Lt Col Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, Intelligence Wing chief of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), died six days after he suffered injuries in bomb blasts near a militant hideout during an army-led raid in Sylhet.
He died at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka at 12pm on Friday.
Mizanur Rahman, RAB media official, confirmed the matter to the Jagonews24.com.
Earlier on Wednesday night, Azad was flown back to Dhaka on life support from a Singapore hospital where he had been taken on Sunday for better treatment.
Six people were killed and at least 40 others, including the RAB intel chief, injured in two blasts in Sylhet on Mar 25.
Azad was first taken to Sylhet’s MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where he underwent several surgeries. Doctors said he suffered splinter injuries all over his body. He was transferred to CMH in Dhaka first and then to Singapore.
