The last group B match of ACC Emerging Teams Cup between Bangladesh and Pakistan ended in a dramatic tie at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium at Cox`s Bazar today.
Despite the exciting tie, Bangladesh finished as group B champions with healthy run rate while Pakistan finished group runners-up.
Chasing a winning target of 2334 runs set by Pakistan, Bangladesh able to pick up 233 in 50 overs for the loss of eight wickets.
Skipper Mominul Haque was the top scorer of Bangladesh`s innings contributing 75 runs off 91 balls laced with eight boundaries and one over boundary while Mohammad Mithun added 53 runs off 68 balls that featured four boundaries and one over boundary.
Nazmul Hossain Shanto (30) and M Saifuddin (18 n.o) were the other notable scorers for the host side.
Zafar Gohar, Hussain Talat and Usama Mir claimed two wickets each for Pakistan conceding 40, 41 and 58 runs respectively.
Earlier, Pakistan scored a decent total of 233 for 8 from their allotted 50 overs, after they opted to bat first.
Bangladesh`s Mohammad Saifuddin struck early on Pakistan innings and soon the visitors were on the back foot at 3-34 inside 11 overs.
The fifth wicket partnership between Haris Sohail and Hammad Azam of 86 in 132 balls resurrected the Pakistan innings somewhat, but when Abul Hasan Raju again brought Bangladesh back in match as he sent Hammad for 30 in the 34th over.
Haris was the top scorer for Pakistan innings, and his 63 from 107 balls held the innings together when wickets were falling at the other end. After he was dismissed by Nasum Ahmed in the 37th over, the seventh wicket stand of 39 in 34 between Bilal Asif and Hussain Talat gave Pakistan some much needed runs late in their innings.
The tourists fought back as their tail enders came to the rescue contributing an useful 45 runs partnership between Zafar Gohar and Hussain Talat that helped Pakistan to reach a competitive total in the end.
Saifuddin was the pick of Bangladesh bowler as he grabbed three wickets conceding 54 in 10 overs to peg back the tourists early while Abul and Nasum shared two wickets apiece.
