The government has given approval to six new universities in the private sector in the country.There are already 83 such universities and the number will now climb to 89 once these six are set up.The education ministry on Sunday issued a gazette notification on the new private universities for setting up these. Among these two are situated in Dhaka.The approved private universities are: International University of Scholars and Canadian University in Dhaka, NPI University of Bangladesh in Manikganj, Northern University of Business and Technology in Khulna, Rabindra Moitri Bishwabidyalay in Kushtia and Chittagong University of Creative Science and Technology in the port city.The six new private universities will have to take permission from the University Grants Commission to offer courses and set up departments and faculties. They will have to start teaching within three months of completing recruitment, said additional Secretary Helal Uddin.
