Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim on Tuesday said that physical presence of doctors at their respective work place should be mandatory for ensuring health services to the people across the country including remote areas.
"The government is considering taking a number of steps including special incentives for doctors to inspire them to work at remote areas", he said this while exchanging views with health directors of seven division of the country at his ministry here.
Nasim said departmental actions including stop salaries would be ensured of those who would absent their respective work place by bringing amendment in the existing transfer rules.
The health minister asked departmental directors and civil surgeon to gear up their activities to oversee the physical presence of doctors at upazila level.
He said the poor people have still confidence over government hospitals. Nasim said three hundred doctors would be appointed very soon and they should be sent at field level.
State minister for health Zahid Maleq, health secretary M Sirajul Islam, director general of heath directorate Dr Abul Kalam Azad and other high officials of the ministry were present.Source: BSS
