The fire at Bangladesh Bank’s foreign exchange policy department originated from an Electric Kettle (water hitter), said an investigating officer after visiting the floor on Saturday.“Electric Kettle for making tea caused the fire at Bangladesh Bank,” said Samarendranath Biswas, Fire Service and Civil Defence deputy director of Dhaka Division and head of investigative committee made by the service.The fire gutted some chairs and tables but any important documents, files, computers were not destroyed, he said.“We have visited the place and talked with eye-witnesses who said that the fire had originated from short circuit of electric kettle at GM’s personal secretary’s office,” said Samarendranath.“We will talk with all officials of the department on Monday and then prepare reports,” he added.A fire broke out on the 13th floor of headquarters of Bangladesh Bank, central bank of Bangladesh, around 9:30pm on Thursday.A total of 12 units of firefighters doused the blaze within an hour with no reports of casualties in the incident.
