Police work for well-being of country: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) A K M Shahidul Haque here today said police are working for the country’s well-being, keeping good relations with people.“The country is going forward to the cherish development goal and it would not be possible if police and people do not work together,” he said addressing a function to inaugurate newly constructed building of Khulna Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) at Boyra in the city.Khulna Range DIGP S M Moniruzzaman, Additional DIGs of Police Ekramul Kabir and Habibur Rahman, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner (KMP) Nibash Chandra Majhi, Khulna Police Super Nizamul Haque Molla, Additional Police Commissioner Mahbub Hakim, Additional Police Super Shafiqullah and senior police officials were present, among others, at the function.Later, the IGP exchange views with local journalists at the DIGP building.He said police personnel in the region have already been given modern electronic devices and police stations have been digitalized for making a crime-free society.The IGP warned that stern actions would be taken if any member of police is found involved in unlawful activities.“No negligence of the cops in doing duties would be tolerated,” he said.Replying a query, he reiterated that there is no presence of terrorist outfit Islamic State (IS) in the country.Militant forces will be eliminated from the country as soon as possible, he asserted.Shahidul Haque also inaugurated annual sports competition and distributed prizes among the winners of KMP and district police as the chief guest.IGP’s spouse Begum Shamsunnahar Rahman attended the function as the special guest.Source: BSS
